Biochemistry & Cancer Biology Graduate Program (BCB)

The BCB Program at Augusta University offers some of the best technological facilities in the world, and innovative mentors who are dedicated to training the next generation of biomedical scientists.

Research in BCB laboratories is diverse and multi-disciplinary with projects aiming to diagnose, prevent and treat a wide range of diseases. With major strength in cancer and immunology, the program is highly inclusive, with projects investigating disorders of numerous organs including the eyes, intestines, blood, and reproductive tissues.

Mentors and students in the BCB program are collaborative and share an training plan that is student-centered and geared to nurture skills that are essential to all successful biomedical scientists. A major emphasis of the BCB program is to provide the tools to ensure that all graduates excel in scientific research, communication, grantsmanship, research ethics and professionalism. BCB graduates are independent scientists that effectively compete for diverse careers in the continuously evolving field of biomedical sciences.

The field of Biochemistry and Cancer Biology sets the pace of discovery by generating the tools and insight into diverse pathological conditions. Researchers in this field routinely manipulate genes, characterize proteins and examine the function of specific molecules in animal models for disease. Armed with a graduate degree in Biochemistry & Cancer Biology from the Medical College of Georgia, you will be an important part of this vial resource that is transforming modern medicine.
