Admissions

Applications Open: July 1, 2025

Applications Close: October 1, 2025

Augusta University Graduate Application Fee: $55

Applications for the Summer 2026 Admissions Cycle open July 1 and close October 1, 2025.

Early applications are strongly encouraged. Interviews for Summer 2026 admissions will be held in the fall semester by invitation only. Applications are reviewed in the order that they become complete. Applications are considered complete when all supporting materials (transcripts, letters of recommendation, and test scores) have been received and processed by Admissions. It may take several weeks for materials to be processed by Admissions. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure the materials arrive in time to be processed.

Students will be notified by email if they are invited to a virtual interview session. Applicants will be notified of admission decisions beginning as early as October 2025 through May 2026.

Admissions Requirements

Minimum Requirements for Admission Consideration

  • GPA: At least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) on all previous college work, with a minimum average of 2.8+ on math and science courses
  • GRE: A minimum score of 290+ combined (2011 and later) or 900 (on earlier versions). A score of 3.5+ is required on the writing session.
  • Courses: Before enrollment, the applicant must have completed at least 90 prerequisite hours at an accredited college. Applicants do not need to complete a baccalaureate degree prior to admission into the program.
  • References: Applicants must submit at least three professional references; at least two must come from occupational therapists. The third may come from an OT, college professor, or work supervisor who can assess your academic or work-related behaviors and potential for success as an occupational therapist. Applicants should select references who can attest to these skills and potential for success. Friends and family are not appropriate references for a graduate program.
  • Volunteering and Shadowing: Given current limitations in site availability for volunteer and shadowing hours, a minimum of 60 hours is strongly recommended but not required for applications to be considered. One or more settings alongside an occupational therapist is encouraged to develop a foundational understanding of the responsibilities of the OT in each setting. Attached is the OT log that you may use to record your hours.
  • Foreign Applicants: Applicants whose first language is not English must submit official TOEFL scores. A minimum score of 213 on the computer-based exam, 550 on the paper exam, or 79 on an Internet-based exam is required for consideration. TOEFL scores must be less than two years old

Technical Standards

OT Graduate students are required to achieve certain technical standards. Students accepted to our program must attest to their ability to perform each of these necessary standards before beginning classes.
