Dr. Solís is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and for the Center for Telehealth at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. He graduated from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008 and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at the Medical College of Georgia in 2011. Before pursuing his medical career, he gained extensive EMS experience, working for nearly 15 years as a paramedic, EMS supervisor, and instructor in North Alabama. Dr. Solís is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services, has completed an Advanced Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship at Augusta University (2021), and holds an Advanced Emergency Ultrasound Focused Practice Certification.
After completing his residency, Dr. Solís returned to North Alabama as an emergency department physician within the Huntsville Hospital System, practicing at Huntsville Hospital and Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children, a tertiary care, Level 1 trauma center with a dedicated pediatric emergency department. Over time, he advanced to the position of Vice-Chair of Emergency Medicine. During his tenure, he played a significant role in emergency medicine leadership, EMS medical direction, and education. He also served as the medical director for Huntsville Hospital Critical Care Transport Service, Calhoun College EMS education programs and multiple regional EMS agencies and 911 centers. His commitment to physician-led EMS education and training, along with his dedication to improving rural emergency medicine and EMS, led him to co-found and organize the annual Rocket City Emergency Medicine and EMS Conference.
Dr. Solís remains an active contributor to EMS in Alabama and Georgia, frequently lecturing and developing educational content. He created and taught a structured FOAMed-based (Free Open Access Medical Education) airway management curriculum for EMS and emergency medicine. Currently, he serves as Medical Director for the EMT, Paramedic, and Critical Care Paramedic education programs at Augusta University’s Center for Operational Medicine EMS Academy.
In addition to his EMS leadership, Dr. Solís has worked in small, rural community emergency departments in Middle Tennessee within the St. Thomas Health System and suburban emergency departments in the Atlanta area within the Northside Hospital System. He also has experience in Long-Term Acute Care, serving as an attending physician and consultant for North Alabama Specialty Hospital.
Since 2021, Dr. Solís has developed extensive expertise in Virtual Care and Telemedicine. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Virtual and Digital Care Programs, overseeing telemedicine critical care consultation services for the Wellstar-MCG Rural Hospital Virtual Care Network - a system of 16 rural hospitals in Georgia - and the Virtual Care at Home programs. Additionally, he played a key role in the development and launch of Georgia’s first Hospital-at-Home program. Dr. Solís also serves as a Tele-educator for the Center for Telehealth at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.
Through his work at MCG and Augusta University, Dr. Solís has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally, helping to organize and teach ultrasound courses in several countries, including Peru, Argentina, Sri Lanka, and his native Panama. He was instrumental in integrating point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) into Emergency Medicine resident training and later into the medical school curriculum at the University of Panama, where he was named a Visiting Professor.
