Dr. Ciamillo earned his medical degree in 1999, and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency in 2003, both at the Medical College of Georgia. He joined the Emergency Medicine faculty after completing his Residency. He currently serves as Director of Quality Assurance of Emergency.

Prior to entering medicine, Dr. Ciamillo ran his family’s law enforcement wholesale company. After becoming a physician, Dr. Ciamillo received additional field training completing the national CONTOMS course on tactical medicine. He subsequently joined the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office’s SRT team, and served as a tactical emergency physician on the team for five years.

Dr. Ciamillo was instrumental in the MCG Emergency Room expansion, which included a 10 bed acute care unit and 7 bed psychiatric unit. From inception the process took four years to complete. He co-authored patient care and comfort measures initiative with input from both nursing and physician staff and hospital leadership, creating a new paradigm in care of the emergency patient to address pain and suffering at check in, and give nursing more clinical autonomy to initiate care measures.
