Dr. Kayla Hostetler is an experienced English educator and literacy scholar dedicated to practices centering student voice and choice. She earned her Ph.D. in Language and Literacy from the University of South Carolina, where her research explored how educators can implement culturally relevant pedagogy in blended learning environments during COVID19.
Her teaching and research interests include language and literacy education, culturally sustaining pedagogy, teacher preparation, youth identity development, Appalachian and Southern literature, and global feminist studies. A frequent conference presenter and published author, Dr. Hostetler’s work centers on empowering both teachers and students to use literacy as a tool for change.
