Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology: General Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Ray joined the Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty in 2006. After undergraduate education at the College of Charleston, he graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. He practiced retail pharmacy in Aiken, South Carolina and hospital pharmacy at the MUSC Children's Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina before returning to medical school. He graduated from the MUSC College of Medicine in 2002. Dr. Ray is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program where he was Administrative Chief Resident. He served as OB/GYN residency program director from 2011 until 2021. Dr. Ray currently serves as the AU Health Medical Director of the OB emergency department/labor and delivery, AU Health ACMO for Population Health, MCG Associate Dean for Primary Care and Community Engagement, AU Co-Director of Cardio-Obstetrics, OB/GYN Vice Chair for Education, AU Health Medical Director for Health Equity and Community Outreach, and Director of the GA Center for Obstetrics Re-Entry Program. His interests include maternal mortality, health equity and community outreach, and workforce solutions for women's health.
