The Hooding Ceremony formally acknowledges and celebrates the achievements of graduating medical students. The Hooding Ceremony also signals another step in their medical career as students recite the Hippocratic Oath and are welcomed into the medical profession.

FAQs

1. How do I order/rent my regalia?
   • Access form with this link: Augusta University AUGUSTA, GA - Graduation Caps & Gowns | Jostens
   • Select Student Doctor Medical Rental (MCG ONLY) use AU email collection from the drop down below to see results. (Please note that the picture on the Jostens is a stock photo and the MCG Hood will be medicine green.)
   • You must use your augusta.edu email address.
   • The regalia rental package for MCG students is $129 plus $12 shipping.
   • Regalia rental orders open on February 1 and run through March 15.
   • Rented regalia must be returned by May 15 to the RoarStore on the Summerville Campus.

2. What if my family member is a Hooder, how do they order their regalia?

3. Will there be a class photo?
   • Yes, there will be a class photo on the steps of the Old Medical College prior to Hooding. More details will come at a later date.

4. Will there be photos of the ceremony and of individual graduates?
   • Grad Images will be onsite to take individual student photos during the ceremony. These photos will be available for purchase at a later date.

5. When is MCG Hooding Ceremony?

• The MCG Hooding Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the James Brown Arena, 601 7th Street, Augusta, GA, at 2:00pm

6. Will there be tickets for the MCG Hooding Ceremony?
   • There are no tickets for the hooding ceremony Students are permitted to invite as many guests as they would like.

7. Will the Ceremony be live streamed?

• • The Ceremony will be live streamed, and a link will be provided at a later date.

8. What is the difference between MCG Hooding Ceremony and AU Commencement/Graduation?

• • The MCG Hooding Ceremony is for all MCG graduating students from all MCG campuses. The Hooding Ceremony formally acknowledges medical student achievement through the administration of the Hippocratic Oath.
  • AU Graduate Hooding and Commencement Ceremony is held with The Graduate School. The MCG graduating class presidents from both campuses will attend on behalf of the class with the MCG Dean to recognize the graduation of all MCG students.
