Elucidating Biological Pathways of Essential Oils for Analgesia in Chronic Pain

The purpose of this study is to determine if essential oils will slow down pain signals sent to the brain. Pain signals are sent to the brain by messengers called neurotransmitters. One neurotransmitter is named substance P. We want to determine whether essential oils decrease substance P when the skin is warmed. Findings from this study may help us reduce the amount of pain signals sent to the brain for people with chronic pain.
