Vascular Risk of Cancer (V-ROC)
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the US and cancer is number 2. Perhaps unsurprisingly, cancer itself and especially drugs that treat cancer have been shown to promote the development of cardiovascular disease through advanced cardiovascular aging. In addition, obesity can also accelerate cardiovascular aging. Whether or not there is a combined impact of cancer and obesity on cardiovascular aging is unknown, especially in African Americans.The purpose of this study is to begin to tease out the contribution of obesity and cancer to the cardiovascular aging process.
Eligibility Criteria
- Protocol 1 Ages 18 and older 1) Diagnoses of stage 1-3 breast or prostate cancer within the past 2 years OR 2) Healthy adult Protocol 2 Ages 18 and older Recent diagnoses of stage 1-3 or oligometastatic breast or prostate cancer (within 3 months of starting medical therapy, if necessary)
