The Anti-angiogenic VEGF165b and VEGFR1 Signaling in Peripheral Artery Disease

This study is trying to find out if a blood test can help identify people with peripheral arterial disease (PAD). PAD is a circulatory condition in wwhich blockaes in blood vessels (mainly in the legs) occurs. This frequently causes pain in the legs while walking. the pain can even be present while at rest.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Inclusion: Willing and able to give informed consent Evidence of documented PAD and clinical stability based on no planned amputation or revascularization within 30 days Patients 40 years to 80 years of age, inclusive Exclusion: Stroke, heart attack or unstable angina within 3 months. Surgery related to vascular disase within 3 months. Amputation or revascularization planned within 21 days. Patients younger than 40 or older than 80 years old Participants that are control subjects will be matched with experimental subjects for age, gender, and risk factors but will not have PAD.
