History of the Medical College of Georgia

Welcome to the History of the Medical College of Georgia: 175 Years of Teaching, Discovering, and Caring online exhibit. The project celebrates 175 years of educational excellence with a unique display of photographs and documents from the Medical College of Georgia collections, predominantly located in the Historical Collections and Archives of the Robert B. Greenblatt, MD Library.

The MCG 175th Anniversary Online Exhibit was a collaborative effort produced in 2003 by the Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. Library, the Office of the Medical Historian in Residence, the Office of the President, and the Office of External and Government Relations (which is today called the Division of Communications and Marketing).

In 2003, the institution-wide name for the Augusta University Health Sciences Campus was the Medical College of Georgia; and this exhibit tells the history of Health Sciences Campus up to 2003. The only updates to the online exhibit since then have been to include the end year of Dr. Rahn’s presidency (2009) or minor edits to correct typographical errors.
